2021 Masters’ Season Starts Off With A Bang

Welcome back to returning teams, and hello to new friends! We hope to see you at future events which will be announced soon. We will host 20 more events across the province this season, offering club, masters, and special events like Single Gender divisions, capping off with a Championship Invitational for the Club and Masters series in April. Stay tuned! Join our mailing list for an exclusive first chance at registration before our events sell out.  Also, we’re hiring an Event Coordinator to help us with our events! Check out our job description, send to a friend, and share to help us deliver you quality events.

Our first stop of our Masters series of the Ontario 4v4 Circuit started off with a bang! We had 6 teams compete, with 3 teams who are long-standing club teams in the Circuit. We had several more teams interested, but unfortunately with facility limitations we could not accommodate all of you. We’re listening to what timing and location works for you, and will announce more events soon! In the mean time, registration for two special events have opened, Open & Women’s 4v4 (Jan 23), and Masters Open & Women’s 4v4 (Jan 30). Register ASAP to get your spot before it sells out!

Congratulations to two-twos and The Fours of Babylon who got top Spirit. Overall, the event had above average Spirit of the Game, and we’re glad to see everyone competing with good spirit even with a big spread of talent.

As we always emphasize, every point matters, and close wins, big losses, and surprising upsets tell the story behind the final rankings.

Shout out to Juicy from Guelph who topped the rankings with a large +/- and a close 2-point win over the second place team, two-twos. What’s super fun about digging into these ratings, is how two-twos had a similar point differential to Juicy, but what really kept them 13 points short of the top placed team, was their dominant win over Still in the last timeslot. two-twos also had a thrilling final minute nail biter as the teams watched the clock, hucking end to end in a last effort to score. A big throw came off just moments before the buzzer sounded and Warren came down with it in the endzone.
While Still is a returning O4C team, they lost steam and ultimately fell 27-9 to two-twos. Still did have a close game to Juicy the timeslot before that, taking half then falling short by 4. Still and Magmarok are our returning O4C teams, placing 5th and 8th respectively at the conclusion of last season. Magmarok held their own, distancing themselves by ~200 points from Monsters and Fours of Babylon. Shout to Monsters who have been longtime participants in The Ontario 4v4 Circuit, playing since the inaugural 2017-2018 season, and Older & Wiser is their first showing at a Masters event. Stay tuned for a team profile on Monsters!
