4 Ladies – Peterborough

Captains: Kerri Kightley and Jocelyn Blazey

In the captain’s words:

This group (thanks for the name, Loat!) was pulled together as a bit of a dream team of ladies that we captains have always wanted to play with. We are pretty passionate about creating spaces for women to demonstrate all of their incredible skill and strength on the field and believe in the power of gathering a group of badass ladies together to push both themselves and their teammates to the best version of an athlete possible. Ultimate is a pretty cool space to see this happen.

Jesse Shofner, an American ultimate superstar, recently wrote that women should: “Take up space. With your thoughts, your voice, your legs, your presence in male-dominated sport culture…you’re out of this world. You’re a force of nature. There is room for you to go and try, fail, make mistakes, and grow. Now, show up and dare to take space.” 4 Ladies took up some serious space at the Electric City tournament! We love that the Ultimate Experience doesn’t even hesitate to register an all female identifying team in a mixed tournament – Thanks for giving us the space UE.

In our words:

4 Ladies is amazing, both in skill and with what they’re doing for women in the sport. Their quote from Jesse Shofner is something they truly took to heart, and they stepped up to the challenge to show the world what they can do. They had a great showing at the Electric City tournament, and we’re confident that they’ll have more great showings to follow. We’re excited to see them come out and take space at more events in the future, and it’s been a pleasure to be able to host them this past season.
